Choosing the Right Size

When in doubt, go slightly bigger. You can always burn less wood if you want a smaller fire. It’s better to have the option of extra warmth than to find your unit underpowered on colder days.

Fireplace Sizing Chart

Not all kW ratings are the same. They vary depending on where the fireplace is made, the grading system used, the size of the firebox, the combustion design, and the materials. Bigger fireboxes can hold more wood and produce more heat, and some designs retain warmth better than others.

Smaller (5–7 kW) — Up to 250 m³

Medium (8–9 kW) — 251 – 350 m³

Larger (10 kW +) — 351 m³ and above
